2000-2003

During 2000-2003 KhWO “КRONA” worked mainly in the area of non-formal education for Ukrainian women. We conducted training programs “Empowerment” for basic women and another training programs for women, who decided to organize their own self-helping groups or civic initiatives. Such kinds of programs had been conducted in Kharkiv and Lviv.

Aim of the program: to support women’s identification in the society, to help women in activation of their resources and mobilazing of consciousness, to increase women’s self-esteem, and to influence on women’s understanding of their role and possibilities in social-politic processes in Ukraine.

Results: in the process of training programs’ realization women built self-helping groups and other initiatives. Thanks to this activity we (“КRONA”) formed the positive image of organization, recognized our politic outlook, civic responsibility and will to develop women’s policy and gender democracy.

2004-2006

“КRONA” started the new step of development: the public civic and politic activity. Target group of our work is group of women, who are involved into civic and politic activity and wish to change situation in Ukraine. This program was conducted in several cities, including Kharkiv, Donetsk and Lugansk.

Aim of the program: to involve active women from NGOs, business, education into discussion about forming of women’s politic outlook and strengthening of influence on all-national policy and gender policy in Ukraine. Such kind of discussions is the way to problem’s recognizing and solving, going from thinking to actions.

Results: the conversion from women politic outlook’s forming to active participation in particular problem’s solving took place. The fruitful partnership with NGOs from different places of Ukraine and other countries was built. KhWO “КRONA” increased the level of professionalism.

Target group: women, which participate in civic-politic activity

Aims:
– recognizing by women of their political subjectivity;
– forming of women politic outlook on problems in society;
– empowerment of women’s NGOs and women-leaders’ political influence;
– forming of gender policy in Ukraine.

Spheres of activity:
1. Education;
2. Building and development of civic-politic discussion space, involving of NGO activists, journalists, government and business authorities to discussions;
3. Development of organization.

2004

During 2004 the next actions were conducted:
1. Training programs “Women Build the Future” in Kharkiv and Donetsk;
2. Two seminars in Kharkiv and Lviv: “Gender, Feminism, Women Studies. Тheory and Practice”, “Influence of Women’s Initiatives on Ukrainian Gender Policy’s Forming”;
3. Collection of e-data of Ukrainian women’s organization for partnership relations;
4. The next Round Tables were conducted:
- “How women/ women’s initiatives can influence on civic responsibility’s development in Ukraine” (Kharkiv);
- “Role of non-formal education in building and development of women’s civic initiatives” (Donetsk);
5. Two-days discussion in methodology “Civic Forum”: “How women’s politic outlook can enrich the possibilities for policy development in Kharkiv and Ukraine”;
6. “Кrona” participated in 3rd International training workshop for multiplicators “Conflict – Culture – Women”;
7. Summer school for women who are NGOs and women’s initiatives representatives was conducted with focus on the next issues: “Gender stereotypes: necessity or possibilities for development” and “Influence of women’s initiatives on gender policy’s forming”;
8. The web site of KhWO “КRONA” was developed;
9. 4 issues of “Ya” magazine (1000 items of each) were collected and published

Out of project’s framework the next actions were conducted:
1. Presentation of “Ya” magazine and the book about “KRONA’s” activity “Women Build the Future” was conducted for the widest community;
2. During President Election Company – 2004 3 discussions for NGO activists, journalists, politicians, media and business representatives were conducted. The topics of discussion are the next:
- “Democratic Ukraine: Choice and Responsibility”;
- “Choice and Responsibility: Women’s Politic View”;
- “Ukraine is me. Perspective and Future of Ukraine”;
3. The project “Gender education for youth” was conducted, including training program, movie “Women’s profile of modernity” screening, 2 television-programs screening.

2005

The next actions were conducted:
1. Training programs “Women Build the Future” in Kharkiv and Lugansk;
2. The Round Table in Lugansk as final event of training program: “Role of non-formal education in building and development of women’s civic initiatives”;
3. The civic-politic newspaper was published in cooperation with Lugansk NGO “Free choice”;
4. The Round Table in Kharkiv “Civic Society After Orange Revolution. View of East Ukraine” was conducted with participation of NGO, government, and media representatives;
5. Summer school “Women as NGO leaders: developing democracy in Ukraine” was conducted in “Open space” methodology for Ukrainian active women;
6. The Round Table (as final event of training program) “From women’s politic view to women movement’s empowerment” was conducted in Kharkiv for women NGO representatives from different places of Ukraine;
7. “КRONA” participated in 4th International training workshop for multiplicators;
8. 4 issues of “Ya” magazine (1000 items of each) were published and disseminated.

Out of project’s framework the next actions were conducted:
1. The Round Table “Influence of informational-educational “Ya” magazine on forming of civic responsibility”, meeting with magazine’s authors;
2. Discussion “Ukraine: possible scenarios for future”;
3. Participation in partner women conference “Women for democracy, peace and security”.


2006

The next actions were conducted:
1. Two workshops for NGO representatives about new Law of Ukraine “About Maintaining of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men” were conducted in Kharkiv;
2. Informational action devoted to International Women’s Day 8th March was conducted: analysis of gender insensitive greetings for women from politic and government authorities.
3. The Round Table “Gender Transformation in Ukraine: Women’s Politic View” was conducted in Kharkiv with participation of Deputy of Ukrainian parliament, head of sub-committee in gender policy of Verkhovna Rada;
4. Informational-educational tour “Ukrainian Way to Gender Equality” was developed and conducted in 4 places of Ukraine: Bryanka (Lugansk region), Vinnytsya, Ivano-Frankivsk and Simreropol on the base of partner NGOs in those places;
5. All-Ukrainian summer school for women from Ukrainian NGOs “Women’s activism: strategies of influence”;
6. “КRONA” participated in 5th International training workshop for multiplicators;
7. The Round Table “Ukrainian Way to Gender Equality” was conducted in Kharkiv; collection of informational-educational tour materials (part 1) was presented;
8. 4 issues of “Ya” magazine (1000 items of each) were published and disseminated.

Out of project’s framework the next actions were conducted:
1. The workshop in gender education for representatives of civic gender council and government representatives from Kharkiv region state administration was conducted;
2. The workshops for government representatives supported by Kharkiv region state administration were conducted.

2007-2009

During 2007-2009 “КRONA” participate in International project “Our New Europe: Poland, Czech, Ukraine, Slovakia/ Women’s Policy and Gender Democracy”

Target groups:
- women who are doing civic-politic activity;
- men and youth who are doing civic-politic activity;
- researchers, experts, analysts in area of human rights, gender democracy, women’s policy, government and media representatives.

Aims:
- support of women’s activism;
- development and implementation of women policy’s strategies;
- implementation of gender policy;
- influence on democracy development and European integration in Ukraine;
- dissemination of public opinion about the role of women in decision-making processes and government participation.

2007

The next actions were conducted:
1. Informational-educational tour “Ukrainian Way to Gender Equality” was developed and conducted in 4 places of Ukraine: Donetsk, Sevastopol, Khmelnytsy and Chernivtsi on the base of partner NGOs in those places;
2. Action “Stop Sexism!” was conducted in 4 universities in Kharkiv. More than 50 posters were published for exhibition; also multi-media presentation was conducted.
3. The Round Table “Actual problems of Gender Policy in Ukraine and Belarus” was conducted.
4. The collection of materials (part 2) as results of Informational-educational tour “Ukrainian Way to Gender Equality” was published.
5. All-Ukrainian Round Table “Influence of Women’s Activism on Gender Transformations in Ukraine” was conducted.
6. “КRONA” participated in 6th International training workshop for multiplicators;
7. Monitoring of the students in juridical specialties’ competence of about Ukrainian gender equality legislation and its implementation;
8. The Round Table “Cooperation of civic society, government and media in gender policy’s implementation in Ukraine” was conducted.
9. 4 issues of “Ya” magazine (1500 items of each) were published and disseminated.

Out of project’s framework the next actions were conducted:
1. All-Ukrainian Round Table “Ukrainian and German Experience in Solving of Gender Inequality Problems” supported by Fridriech Ebert Fund (representative in Ukraine);
2. Special issue of “Ya” magazine “Gender Aspects of Euro-Atlantic Integration” supported by «Center of Information and Documentation NATO» in Ukraine was published;
3. Two workshops “Gender Sensitivity of Media» for journalists were conducted in Kharkiv (for students of journalist faculty of Karazin National University and television journalist faculty of Kharkiv State Academy of Culture) due support of American Embassy in Ukraine;
4. Additionally 500 items of “Ya” magazine were published due support of American Embassy in Ukraine;
5. The program “Gender Equality is the Step to Democratic State” was conducted in partnership with UNDP.

Supporting the Kharkiv Regional program of maintaining of equal rights and opportunities of women and men till 2010 the next workshops were conducted:
- “Implementation of gender approach in government activity” (for local government authorities);
- “Using of gender aspects during decision-making processes” for deputies of Kharkiv and region.
Except that the handouts “Gender Policy in Ukraine” and “Normative-Legislative Maintaining of Gender Equality in Ukraine” for state and government authorities and media representatives.

2008

The next actions were conducted:
1. Action for 8 March: “Gender in Pictures” series were created, published and disseminated;
2. The concept of gender Internet-portal was created;
3. Gender-legislative analysis of Ukrainian legislation was conducted and the relevant handout was published;
4. Gender summer school for journalists was conducted;
5. First International conference “Gender Theories, Gender Practices: Building the Bridges” was organized and the collection of presentation was published;
7. 2 issues of “Ya” magazine (1000 items of each) were published and disseminated.
Out of project’s framework the next actions were conducted:
1. Gender workshops for local government representatives were conducted in regions.
2. Action for defending of women’s rights focused on women, who have has mastectomy surgeon was organized.
